Description
The Client
Nomad Distribution is the largest single source of Spanish food products in Australia. They seek to employ a Production Manager with relevant experience to join their team.
The Role
This is a full time position with an annual salary set at $95,000 including superannuation, and will be based in Frenchs Forest, NSW.
The Responsibilities
- Plan, organise and control daily production operations for Spanish food products including sauces, cured items, prepared foods and packaged goods
- Translate demand forecasts into production schedules while balancing shelf life constraints and inventory targets
- Manage procurement coordination for imported ingredients to ensure continuity of authentic recipes and prevent stock disruptions
- Oversee batch manufacturing processes to maintain consistency, yield efficiency and product quality
- Implement and monitor HACCP, food safety and hygiene systems across all production activities
- Supervise production staff, allocate labour resources and ensure adherence to standard operating procedures
- Monitor equipment utilisation, downtime and maintenance requirements to maximise throughput
- Control production costs including labour, materials, wastage and utilities
- Ensure compliance with local food regulations, labelling requirements and import handling standards
- Coordinate packaging operations including portioning, sealing, coding and traceability controls
- Investigate production issues, quality deviations or contamination risks and implement corrective actions
- Maintain production records, batch documentation and audit ready compliance files
- Work with logistics teams to align production output with distribution schedules and cold chain requirements
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, product consistency and scalability
The Requirements
- Relevant Bachelor degree in Commerce or Business discipline
- Minimum 3 years experience in food manufacturing operations within a commercial production environment
- Minimum 3 years experience in a supervisory or production management role overseeing manufacturing staff and output targets
- Minimum 3 years experience implementing HACCP or equivalent food safety and quality management systems
- Minimum 3 years experience in production planning, capacity management and process optimisation in a food manufacturing setting
- At least 3 years of experience working with ERP or production planning software to manage resources, schedules, and track production metrics
- Competence in production cost control, yield optimisation and wastage reduction strategies
- Strong leadership, workforce planning and performance management capability
- Ability to analyse production data and prepare operational reports for management
- Understanding of workplace health and safety obligations in manufacturing environments
- Ability to develop and implement innovative production solutions to achieve the most optimal and efficient production outcome
- Strong communication and organisational skills
